LuccaAfter Florence we headed to Lucca. We wanted to stop by this town since Nick has family here. His Mom is 100% Italian and has relatives that still live in Lucca, Italy. Lucca is adorable!! It is a little town with a wall that goes all the way around the town. When we arrived Nick and I rented bikes and rode around the wall. This was a great way to see the town. After that we met up with his cousins and they showed us around inside the walls and took us up a tower where there were awesome views. For dinner we headed over to the families house and had a true Italian dinner. The food was delicious and it just kept coming!! This was one of our favorite experiences of the entire trip!
The next day we took a train to the Cinque Terra. This was one of the places I was most looking forward to going to. We stayed in the second most north town of the five, Vernazza. We loved staying here, it was quaint and quite. We went to dinner at Ristorante al Castello the first night we were there. It was on the very top of a hill and you were literally sitting on the edge of cliff. I got the pesto lasagna which was to die for!! The next morning we got up and took the train to the most north city and hiked the trail through three of the towns. The other legs were closed so we hiked back to Vernazza and took a swim in the ocean. We loved the hike and the CInque Terra, we slept like babies that night!
